The service life of food-grade silicone bracelets is affected by multiple factors, as follows:
Normal usage condition
In a cool, well-ventilated environment free from direct sunlight, if stored and used properly, such as being thoroughly cleaned and dried after each use, the service life of food-grade silicone bracelets can reach over 10 years. Food-grade silicone itself possesses properties such as resistance to high and low temperatures, corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, high tear resistance, and low shrinkage rate. These characteristics help to extend its service life.
Extreme environmental impact
High-temperature environment: High temperatures can accelerate the oxidation of silicone materials, leading to aging. Silica gel mainly undergoes oxidation and decomposition reactions of side-chain organic groups in an aerobic high-temperature open environment, resulting in the hardening of silica gel. In an oxygen-free, high-temperature and sealed environment, the main chain breakage reaction mainly occurs, generating volatile cyclic polysiloxane, which leads to the softening of silica gel. Therefore, prolonged exposure to high-temperature environments will shorten the service life of food-grade silicone bracelets.
Ozone environment: Ozone can cause the performance of silicone products to decline rapidly and accelerate aging. Ozone attacks the silicone molecules, causing the silicone to expand and resulting in cracks on its surface, which in turn affects the service life of the bracelet.
Strong light environment: Strong light, especially ultraviolet rays, has an impact on silicone similar to that of heat, but mainly acts on the surface of silicone. Ultraviolet rays can directly cause the breakage of rubber molecular chains. This is because silicone products can absorb light energy, generating free molecules within the rubber, which leads to changes in the performance of the silicone and shortens its service life.
Frequent use and force conditions
If a bracelet is frequently subjected to external forces such as pulling and twisting during use, or comes into contact with sharp objects, causing surface scratches, it may accelerate its aging process and thus shorten its service life.
